Microchips FAQ

  • A microchip is a tiny, permanent identification device about the size of a grain of rice that is implanted just under your pet’s skin, usually between the shoulder blades that will last your pets lifetime .
  • Each microchip contains a unique identification number that when scanned, will trace to your information to help reunite you with your pet.
  • No. Microchips are not GPS devices and cannot track or locate your pet in real time.
  • They serve as a permanent form of identification with a unique number linked to your contact details—so if your pet is ever lost, a quick scan can help bring them back home.
  • The procedure is quick and simple, much like a routine vaccination.
  • Most pets barely notice it, and no surgery or anesthesia is needed.
  • Updating your contact information helps to ensure that lost pets are reunited with their owners quickly!
