Spay/Neuter Services
Patient Information
Spay/neuter patients will receive an arrival time between 8 and 9:30am. Ideally, their humans would already have filled out their consent forms online, which helps to make the check-in process faster. After checking in, patients and their humans will go to an exam room where a veterinary technician will review a pre-surgery checklist (including ensuring that there was no food eaten after midnight!). The patient will then be taken for a medical examination and to be settled into their kennel for the day while the veterinarian speaks to the owner to review any findings and plans for surgery. Please plan to be here for about 15-30 minutes for drop-off.
During the day, owners will receive an email with discharge instructions, as well as an invoice for the day’s fees. Remember, there is a $2 fee for card transactions, so this can help you plan to bring cash if you want to save that fee. When owners arrive at the designated time (usually between 4-5pm), they will pay for their pet’s care, and then review the discharge instructions. They will also receive any meds that they are taking home (normally only if they have purchased extras like calming meds for dogs or extra pain meds because all pets receive a pain injection while sedated for surgery). Their pet will then be returned to the owner, wearing their e-collar or onesie if purchased (we highly recommend buying one to prevent licking and reduce the risk of infection!).
